Oh wow, that's going to mean some changes then! I don't mind who has Spiderman, as long as they have that ride, as it's one of my all-time favourites! I can't imagine IOA losing their rides though, what about the Hulk ride, that's massive, and green, lol, it would take a lot to change it to something else. Will be keeping an eye on this for sure.

Now that is a worry, Look how disney have whacked there prices up so high compared to a year ago yet universal, ect have stayed stable.
I hope disney dont buy out universal and the other parks as going to orlando would be a rich persons holiday again. |

I think Universal would just pay Disney to have the rides, rather than Marvel. I dont think anything major would happen... i doubt disney would have marvel characters in their parks as it would ruin the theming and atmosphere. And if IOA had to change all their rides it would cost them alot. I dont think anything will change tbh..whatever deal Universal had with marvel to use their characters, Universal will now have with Disney.

This is big news given the amount of charachters marvel has but I don't think it will effect IOA much, for sure there's probably a 50/50 chance they'll have to re-brand the rides but they do that all the time anyway. You just have to look at back to the future, it's now the simpsons but the ride itself hasn't changed much at all, it's still just an advanced simulator but with a different theme.
If they change the Hulk they might have to paint it a different colour or something, but the spiderman one all they need to do is find a new theme and change it like they did with back to the future. If anything it will probably generate more revenue for IOA as they can promote it as a new ride. I also can't see Disney doing much with incorporating Marvel into their own brand, I'd imagine they treat the two companies as two seperate entities as they'll generate more profit that way (they might merge some of the behind the scenes though like accounts and marketing etc to save a few $$). Interesting news however you take it Edited at 05:18 PM. |

I disagree with this, I can't see how Universal will want to put money into Disney's pocket, they are huge competitors in Orlando so I reckon Disney have partly done this to squeeze Universal into either having to pay ridiculous sums of $$ to the rights or force them to change the rides, I think the latter is more likely. Interesting year ahead of us...
Nice to see lots of different opinions on this one... |

I can't imagine Universal are too chuffed with this one! It will be interesting to see what pans out with Islands of Adventure. Wuith a bit of luck they'll move Spiderman to Disney somewhere, I'll get to finally go on it then!

I'm sure Universal will have a contract that runs for a set time rather like Disney had with MGM. When it runs out Disney might use the characters themselves maybe in a fifth park Marvel World or Superhero park?
