Currency exchange - change in UK or US?
Hi All, just wondered what the general consensus is regarding exchanging £ into $. First time going to Orlando shortly, and usually when I go abroad, I take £ and get them changed locally into local currency since the exchange rates are usually better. Any views on this?

No I wouldn’t change currency in America, they usually give an extremely poor exchange rate. Definitely better to get your currency in the UK.

Welcome to the Dibb.
Change it here before you go... in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anywhere over there to change it.

Like above, I've never seen better rates in the US. Where have you changed in the past?

It’s almost impossible to change in the USA and definitely not a better rate.
You can however just withdraw from a cash machine as and when you need it which would then exchange it from your bank account to cash at a good rate. |

I agree, don't change it in USA, also don't change it at the airport as you will get a much lower rate there. I have used Covent Garden FX for years and never had any issues, it is delivered on whatever day you choose.

Years ago I took my now ex mother and father in law.😫😫😫😫. First morning she was adamant about changing some money. God knows why, but I ended up at a bank. We all walked in and low and behold it was the dollar travelers cheques she was wanting to change. The teller expained she didn't need to do this as it was like cash in the USA. She then took out some British notes and asked if she could change those. The teller had never seen any and just said they didn't have the facility to do it. Suffice to say I said why didn't you say it was the cheques you were wanting to change. Told her we'd just wasted half a day for nothing. Think it wasn't long after that we got divorced 😎😎

Why don't you look at getting a card that had both rates on it like Starling or Monza. Lots of threads on here for help and advice on them for you 👍🏼
