Travelling to France from ROI

Hi

I am hoping some lovely Irish Dibbers may be able to help with some travel advice. I have read so much information I am even more confused now than I was when I started

Our Daughter will be travelling from Dublin to Paris then on to DLP with her friend in January, they are staying for 3 nights.

Our daughter is Scottish, has a U.K. passport and lives in NI, her friend is from Dublin, has an EU passport and lives in the EU. Both are fully vaccinated but no boosters as yet.

As far as I can work out…

1. People travelling from within the EU, if fully vaccinated with an EU digital Covid Certificate, don’t need to take a test before departure or return (I think this is true but not 100% sure).

2. People travelling from the U.K. need to test 48hrs prior to departure (If fully vaccinated), test again prior to return home and then again 48 hours after they arrive home.

I’m unsure if statement 1 or 2 are correct and also not sure which one applies to our daughter as she is flying within the EU but is not from the EU and does not hold an EU digital covid certificate. She had her vaccinations in Scotland so has the Scottish version of the digital certificate.

I understand that things might change, but if someone could please help me clarify what she needs to do to travel (currently), I would be eternally grateful.

Also if anyone could advise what is the best website for this information I would really appreciate that too. I’ve been Googling it, so getting all kinds of random pages and not sure which one is official.

Thank you

I’m going from NI next month & yes if not EU you have to do a pre-departure test within 48 hours for France, a pre-departure test for coming back into UK & a day 2 test. This could change by the time I go🤞🏻
Going from Dublin, I’d assume you would still need to do the pre-departure test if your living in NI, you also have a test to do for arriving back to Dublin. It’s very confusing & tricky if coming from NI via Dublin. I’m actually going to Venice from Dublin in March so will sort of be in the same position!

Thank you so much Lou Lou D for your reply, it is just so confusing.

After Christmas I’ll book her the 3 tests she’ll need (although that might have changed again by then!). She’s still a student so it’s was supposed to just be a wee cheap trip, but all the testing means it’s not so cheap anymore 😬

I’d hold off on the tests until the last minute just incase. I know I will be! Fingers crossed they’re a temporary measure over Christmas!🤞🏻
