What’s going on with the price of Gatwick hotels?

Just looked at May prices and they are crazy. ~£100 for an overnight stay even for the Premier Inns.

Obviously the move of Virgin to Heathrow has hit them in the pocket!

Will now drive down on the morning.

I think several of the hotels (particularly the South terminal ones) are still closed. Fewer rooms = higher prices. Once the South reopens, I would expect prices to come back down.

Just checked a random date in May out of interest on PI and only the PI North was silly money. The ones a bit further out, even into Crawley, were around the price I would expect to pay for the area. So they might be worth looking at. Not quite as convenient as walking across the road, but only a few minutes drive.

We booked the premier inn at north terminal last week for £51.

August 1st.

Has it doubled since then?

Booked last week for start of aug at £66 (premier inn north) which was the more expensive fully flex price (£57 without flex). Just checked and it’s still that price

I know, I've been thinking the same! For our dates, end of June, Premier Inn North, it's £114 flex rate . The Hilton is about £160 for us but you get breakfast in with that price.
We need 2 rooms so not a happy bunny at the mo.
