We often overhear confidential business meetings at service stations. The last time we drove down south and stopped at Beaconsfield Services we sat down on the leather armchairs to find 3 business people sat next to us interviewing a series of job applicants. We couldn’t help listening to the questions and answers before commenting to each other that we thought it gave terrible impression of the employer.

If they wanted to get rid of them arguably they wouldn't offer free wifi.
I wonder if there's a school ofthought that says a regular customer buying one or two coffees daily (and probably sometimes buying food) is more profitable than the coffee and a bun once a month customer ?
Just a thought.

I've had meetings in coffee shops and felt it was very unprofessional at times depending on the topic but then I roll my eyes at those who have the most inappropriate loud business phone conversations on crowded trains too.

Our local costa opens at 5am every day. DH and I go about 7am each Sunday morning for toast and a coffee before walking the dog; there’s generally about a dozen regulars there and it’s a lovely relaxed way to start the weekend. Last week, a foreign guy about 4 tables away sat watching a programme on his phone, at full volume! After about 20 minutes of listening to the foreign language film, we left and it really spoiled my day! Why on earth would you think it was acceptable to listen to something so loud everyone in the place could hear it clearly? Buy some headphones for heavens sake

The amount of people who do this on the train is unreal.

Paddington Station Starbucks is the local interview place when I come back from London and some interveiws are very cringeworthy!

We went into a Starbucks in Boston USA and there was not one table free every single table was taken up by someone on a Laptop.

As RickT mentioned .. when people discuss sickness and attendance complete with names, a child going to court, government white papers , EU exit proposals ( all heard on trains recently) NHS spreadsheets ... just because you don't think you know anyone does'nt mean they don't know what you are talking about !

I think its time that all places had a Wifi cap to enable genuine customers to eat and drink their purchases.

Yes this is one of my biggest pet hates! Especially when solo and your food’s getting cold and people are just sitting there not eating! Get your food/drinks BEFORE you sit down! 😤
