Splinter in finger any advice please.

I have a splinter embedded in my nail or I think I do. Yesterday whilst cleaning the en-suite bathroom I was wiping a small section of skirting board which was quite raggedy on surface when with full force a splinter went right into my nail I thought I got it out as I removed a decent sized chunk and thought the mark left was bruising but not sure now. Any advice. I’m on my own whilst dh is away cycling up and down mountains so having difficulty with using left hand to do anything. I’ve cut the nail as far as I can without any success but am sure it is a splinter although it’s sore it’s not giving me that sharp soreness when nail is touched. Hopefully a photo will explain.

A dab of Savlon and a sticking plaster works for me - the splinter works it way out.

Ouch. You can get a magnesium paste from the chemist to draw out splinters too. Also works for ingrown hairs.

I got a splinter the other week from a log. I used tweezers to get it out some still stayed in and was tender to touch and annoying. I had a hot bath with Epsom salts and it popped out itself. I was so relieved.

this is what I use. Put the paste on and in your case under the nail, cover with a plaster. Renew as and when Usually comes out within a couple of days.

Girl I used to work with had a DH who was a thatcher. He swore by magnesium paste. 👍

I work in pharmacy and definitely magnesium paste and cover it. Should pop out in a few days.
