I wore mine throughout my 5 day trip to Disneyland California in April- my birthday was in February but the trip was for my 30th birthday. I got lots of birthday wishes from cast members and even other park guests in the queues! No special treats or freebies, but I didn’t expect any.

My DD celebrated with a breakfast at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and Friends and received a cake and signed card and then in the Circus Tent was given a gift of a cake, and as her Mum, I received one as well! My birthday didn't go down too well with Peter Pan when my DGD said it was my birthday, as he doesn't believe in birthdays (I did say I was only 6 but really 68, and he agreed to have a photo taken with me) so he was very much in character! Go and enjoy what you can, although we only did it on the actual day

Couple of year back we were at POFQ and celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. Checking us in, the lovely CM got so excited she disappeared out the back and returned about 10 minutes later (we thought she'd forgotten about us!) with a hand decorated badge , 48 happy years, sparkles, sprinkles, all sorts. We were so touched we wore them for the whole trip. Some unexpected pixie dust came our way and lots of laughs. The best was the security chap checking our bags at MK one morning who told us his 3 marriages didn't add up to 48 years 😁

I was always thought that you can celebrate your birthday at Disney up to 6 months after or 6 months before your birthday...

My son turns 4 the day before we leave. I'm thinking we'll get him a badge for the first few days but probably not the whole trip.

Really interesting to read everyone’s perspectives on this.. there’s obviously not a right and wrong answer... my birthday isn’t until the middle of the trip so we’ll see what I decide. It will be interesting when we check in to see if they mention it or offer a badge 😀

Last time we were out there I wore my birthday badge the entire trip and probably will do so again this trip (my birthday is while we're out there!) The freebies are few and far between now days but the whole trip is a celebration and the birthday wishes are nice.

I wore mine the whole of the trip in 2016. Trust me some days I tried not to, and OH went and got me more. I found them all on Sunday 😂.

When we last visited and my DD wore a birthday badge, the only "freebies" she received was a birthday card and a birthday cupcake at Crystal Palace. Considering it's an all-you-can-eat buffet and we'd eaten plenty of dessert, the extra cupcake was a bit superfluous. Still, it was a nice gesture.
You do get several "Happy Birthdays!" and other similar comments from the CMs and characters you meet but it's not like you get much in the way of freebies. So don't wear the badge expecting to get lots of free stuff.
