Spoke to her. Big no, no one case each it is. My concern is not so much weight etc but luggage and a four year old going through MCO. Especially that second bag drop. I was rather hoping to do the stairs. But it reminds me of that joke

A Fox, a chicken and a bag of corn. How do you take them across a river when the boat only holds three including the rower!

Easy! John Lewis sell a suitcase that is BA hand baggage size, it's huge! I checked the measurements several times and couldn't believe the size of it and it has been OKed at check-in twice as it fits!

We stay in 1-beds so we can wash and that is easily enough space for 3 adults. The hardest thing I find is shoes so I make everyone wear their trainers and then sandals and flipflops aren't too bad.

I know they say you can also take a handbag/laptop case. How strict are they on sizes of those. I am thinking of dh who normally takes a day pack type hand luggage. I will be swapping his to a case but wondered what carry on 2 may be.

We have a BA sized second carry on. It is more of a flatter large briefcase size. Took me ages to find a company that did them.
I have been away for a week with just the smaller carry on. It was tight but rammed stuff in packing cubes, did a wash and wore bulky stuff. Had bad arm so couldnt do the larger carry on bag.

This is it. It is the second under chair max BA size.

We went for 3 weeks and took 3 cases going out which were pretty light going out, around the 14/15 kg mark but were nearer the 21/22kg mark coming back. That's for 2 of us, but my husband did buy a cordless circular saw from Home Depot and brought that home!

Mind you it cost me more than $50 in laundry at Disney and I'd brought my own detergent.
Ten washes in two weeks ?
US machines are massive too

I've never had my second item measured, generally any smaller bag that will fit under the seat (this is the main criteria for a second item) should get through fine. If they're measuring, it's 45 x 36 x 20cm or about 30L.

A standard day pack should be below this, although the depth might be a restrictor on bulkier packs. My largest rucksack is just slightly over this (48cm high, other dimensions bang on) and it's HUGE - it's the one I often use going carry on only.

This is the John Lewis case someone else mentioned above - the last pic has it shown with a person to give scale on how large it is:

I was a bit concerned about only having a 20kg allowance with Norwegian, but reading this thread has reassured me a bit. I also checked with them and my intermediate case, which I usually check in, is the right size to go as carry on, so there's another 10kg if needed.

There are 4 of us going for 10 days, so that gives us 90kg. It does sound like a lot.
