Vegas for my 50th Travel Day and Day 1

For part of my 50th celebrations we went to Vegas.

Booked through Lastminute.com we flew with United via SFO on the way and via ORD on the way back and spent 5 nights in the Excalibur Hotel.

We travelled to Heathrow the night before as our flight was at 9:20am, and stayed at the Holiday Inn with purple parking.

My BFF's husband works for United and he got us free flight upgrades to PE which got the holiday off to a great start.

Although the Beast from the East was just arriving as we were waiting to leave, so we had to be defrosted!

Food was a bit odd on this flight and was probably the worst plane food I have eaten. I can't even identify most of it!

We arrived at LAS around 4pm their time, but it was such a long days travelling we were shattered. A short taxi to the Excalibur and we were suitable impressed.

We were so tired we only managed to walk a couple of block up the Strip to Fatburger. What a revelation! $36.48 and we had the most amazing burgers we have ever had. Drinks and Chilli cheese fries and fat fries too. Wonderful, but no pics I'm afraid.

Day 2 was spent walking. You really have to walk the LV Strip to be able to see as much as you can, and you need to go into every hotel on the way.

New York New York

Aria

Paris

Bellagio

Caesars Palace

The Flamingo

The Mirage (All U Can Eat Breakfast)

The Mirage (Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat)

We then got a cab to the Carroll Shelby Museum and joined the daily tour of the workshop and museum. This is free and I would definitely recommend it. You are taken round by the legend Jim King who was a personal friend of Carroll Shelby. He was fantastic

We walked back to the Excalibur stopping off for a photo opportunity on the way

Finally taking in the Mandalay Bay

and the Luxor

Before finally returning to the Excalibur for pulled pork loaded nachos and a well deserved cocktail!

It was sunny every day, but there was quite a wind. Not a particularly cold one, but we did need a light cardigan or jacket most days.

yes seat back TV's on the flight to SFO, but nothing on the SFO to Las Vegas. This was only an hour so no issue
