Star Tours - A solo story trip May 2018 - Day one Travel

Today was my travel day and I woke up feeling like not going to Paris as there had been a man stabbing people the day before.

My DH said I had been planning for months so should go.

So I arrived early for my train due at 12.25 to London.
It arrived on time but problems started at York where the Virgin train had a problem with a door and we got delayed by 5 minutes.

Then later in the journey the rail points were stuck so we ended up 20 minutes late into London Kings Cross. It was nice and sunny as I got off and searched for my Travel inn supposed to be near Kings Cross. Google maps took me to the wrong place before I found the hotel and as the sign was not what I expected nearly walked past it again

I checked in and was given a 'quiet' room and was offered ear plugs which I took as they were free.

The hotel was fine for a night and the room was a decent size for a London hotel room

I dropped off my bags in my room as went for a walk around the area to see where St Pancreas was in order to find me bearings for tomorrow to get the Eurostar as my train did not seem to be hit by the French strike

I found the Eurostar terminal and even though I had printed email tickets I decided to self print new tickets in the self service terminal.

The station was very busy as lots of trains had been cancelled so I wondered back to the hotel and picked up a Mac D's and settled down to watch the Grand Prix in my room.

It was hot so I had another walk around and found a Sainsbury's a short walk away and was normally price so I stocked up on snacks for the next day.

I has decided to take lots of snacks to save buying them in the parks as soo expensive and the plan was to bring drinks as well until I worked out I had no way of keeping the drinks cold in the DLP hotel.

I settled down to bed to sleep until the next morning.

Ooh how exciting.

I think I would have walked past that Travelodge too, it's a lot more subtle than usual.

A shame about the delays with the trains, but at least you were in London ready for your Eurostar to Disney.
