I'm quite jealous that you will get to see the autumn foliage. A few trees were just beginning to turn colour at the tips of their branches before we left.

We didn't whale watch but we did do a day trip to Martha's Vineyard from Hyannis with HyLine Cruises which we booked before we left home - not really necessary as there were plenty of available seats that day(maybe because it was drizzly) but apparently it is often fully booked.

As for diabetes diet DH just coped as best he could. He'd pick savoury options for breakfast, wholemeal bread where available and skipped dessert at dinnertime (we all skipped dessert as not fun eating when you know someone else can't - instead DD and I would have an ice cream or a treat in the afternoon as not so awkward for DH to avoid. We also popped into supermarket and stocked up on apples and diet drinks) but having ketchup and other sauces was just pot luck how much sugar they contained. He doesn't do blood tests at home but we know he wasn't as under control as he is at home because he was going to loo a lot more often.
