Thoughts on Las Vegas Itinerary Feb 2019

With February fast approaching I thought it best to try and nail down accommodation and some form of a plan for our week there. It will be just myself and OH, going for his 40th and leaving the kids at home. Yay
It looks very full on but I got slightly freaked by reading some not great threads on Vegas recently so have tried to include things outside of the Strip. Having never been to the West Coast before I have no idea how we will cope with jet lag so certain bits can be dropped or rearranged if we are dead on our feet!

Day 1
Fly LGW-LAS with BA, land at 1.30. Check into Signature Suites MGM Grand. Explore hotel surroundings. Dinner @ BurGR Planet Hollywood
Day 2
Breakfast @ Le Village Buffet Paris
North End Outlets
Explore North Strip
Dinner @ Grand Lux Café Venetian
Day 3
Breakfast @ Mom's Diner Pahrump
Drive to Death Valley
Drop OH off to Furnace Creek for golf.
Explore Dante's View and Zabriskie Point whilst he is playing
Drive back to LV via Rhyolite Ghost Town
Dinner @ Mon Ami Gabi Paris
Day 4
Shopping @ South Outlets
Explore South Strip
Dinner @ Hard Rock Café
Day 5
Drive to Grand Canyon South Rim via Hoover Dam
Lunch @ Mr D's Diner Kingman
Check into Bright Angel Lodge
Dinner @ hotel
Day 6
Watch the sunrise
Drive back to LV via Seligman
Lunch @ Snowcap Café
Check into Bellagio Hotel
Chill
Dinner @ Wicked Spoon Cosmopolitan
Day 7
Golf @ TPC Las Vegas
Brunch @ Red Rock Casino
Red Rock Canyon
Explore missed resorts
Dinner @ Cheesecake Factory
Day 8
Breakfast @ Serendipity 3 Caesars Palace
Flight home LAS-LGW 16.55

I wouldn't bother with the South outlets, would see the sunset as well as sunrise at GC and I don't think serendipity is there any more. Think thats Gordon Ramsey hells kitchen isn't it?

Not sure if you have already taken this trip (February 2018?) or if it is a typo but if you have been, I hope you enjoyed it, if not - read on!

This trip looks absolutely fabulous, we have been to Vegas three times and, yes, you have to take the strip for what it is, in all its brash glory, but the areas around are spectacular and you have made a decent selection for what will be a pretty busy week.

I have a couple of suggestions but they are just extra bits that we enjoyed and you might have already considered and dismissed.

At Death Valley I would definitely not miss Dantes view, absolutely spectacular, but if you have time you could drive along to Badwater and walk out on the salt plain and then return to Furnace Creek via Artists Palate (probably take half an hour or so)

I know the cabins at Bright Angel get booked up very early (we booked the best part of a year before visiting) but if you get chance to get a partial canyon view, which don't cost that much more, it is a real bonus.

The tour of the inside of Hoover Dam is interesting but you probably wouldn't want to try and fit it in on the way to the canyon but maybe on the way back?

If you are still feeling “out doorsey” after Red Rock Canyon There is the Bonnie Springs ranch that way out which is a bit touristy but OK, as long as you are not offended by the daily hanging re-enactment!

Finally, and going back to the brash side of Vegas, I would not miss a couple of hours people watching and enjoying the noise and colour of Freemont Street. I have never stayed this end of town but always enjoyed a visit and a couple of drinks there and would not want to miss it just because it is, undoubtedly, rather like Blackpool on steroids and some of the characters wandering about could be a bit challenging if you have a sensitive nature.

We have visited quite a few more areas in and around Vegas which were great but I think you are putting just enough into a weeks visit so I wont try to tempt you to over pack the schedule.

I agree with everything you have said. Vegas is Vegas. I love it. Some very good advice.

Thank you, 2 trips to the North ones instead! Oh that's a shame, it probably is. I read about it on I think it was Abiknox's trip report a while ago but I'll have a look at their menu instead

Silly me! No its next year we go, I keep thinking we're in 2017 still! Will change title now.
Thank you so much for the great info, its very helpful I will certainly be adding all these to the list.
Thankfully I have already booked a rim view room at the Bright Angel, I can't wait!
Yes will definitely try and squeeze in a trip to Freemont Street. I sounds like it has to be seen to be believed!
Thank you again

Thanks Jo I must admit I just went into panic mode when reading recent threads on here. I'll need to judge it for myself and stop worrying! I'm sure we'll have a blast whatever. Do you know what the weather will be like in February? I'm struggling to know what to pack!

We found the miracle mile shops and fashion show mall to be really good as were the grand canal sops in the venetian.

Serendipity was recommended to us before we went and we had no idea why we couldn't find it and had to Google it - think it got shut down as something to do with fraud!

Other things we enjoyed were a gondola ride in the venetian and the helicopter night flight up and down the strip which was really good. If hubby likes his golf he might like an hour at top golf in mgm as well.

The GC is stunning and well worth the trip and something you cant really appreciate the full scale of until you actually see it. Absolutely stunning!

I'm sure you will have a great trip anyway. Enjoy😀😀

I thought I would hate Vegas and only went to be able to see GC which was truly wonderful.its a sight I will remember forever. If you go with an open mind I hope you will enjoy it. I love Signature Suites and don’t think you will be disappointed. We have been February for last maybe 4 years and are going on 2/2 next year for 10 nights. On the whole weather is warm during the day but chilly at night so you will need layers. Definitely not pool weather. One year we had a bit of drizzle for a couple of the days. I much prefer the weather then than the awful blistering heat of the summer. Think maybe an average spring day in the UK. Fremont St is definitely an experience. It’s only an hour or two if you don’t like it you can go back to the strip. Any questions and I will try and help. Hope you have an amazing time
Forgot to say first time we did GC there was actually snow on the ground. That was in February. Check timetable for times for sunset etc.

timeanddate/sun/@529...th=2&year=2019

If you spend a lot of time at Hoover then lunch you will miss sunset...we did the first time, so leave early ish and watch your time and dont forget time difference. Try and get there when its daylight as its easier to find your hotel.

Was beautiful and sunny but snow by our hotel etc. This year was bright and sunny. So just be prepared in case you do have a bit of snow. It was gorgeous. So jealous. Next year we are staying at Death Valley for a night or two.
Just re read your post. You will love Bellagio. Stayed there this year for a couple of nights. The conservatory is well worth a visit. So excited for you

Good advice. We don’t bother with the outlets either and like Miracle Mile etc. I like Ross on the strip as well.
