Villa worries

We have a villa booked for 14 nights for August next year - a villa that we have used before.

The owner used to be on the Dibb but I noticed a few weeks ago that my villa reviews was now 2 and not 3, and after a quick search realised that they are no longer members of the Dibb.

I emailed the owner 7 days ago to confirm our booking is still ok but haven't had any response. The villas website address is no longer working and I'm starting to get anxious.

I am right to be worried or should I give them a few more days to respond.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you’re right to be a little worried - I realise it’s Christmas and they might be busy with their family, but in conjunction with the website disappearing, it doesn’t look good. Not sure why they haven’t contacted you though. Has their Dibb membership disappeared altogether, or just their villa advert?

We had a Dibb villa booking for Easter, and the owners let us know that they could no longer honour the booking, asking for our bank details to return our deposit without any delay. Their Dibb advert and website went that same day, so I can’t understand why your villa owner hasn’t contacted you in the same way.

Have you tried sending a PM to Stu? He was really helpful when the same thing happened to me a few years ago, and got in touch with the owner. The owner soon got in touch and returned our deposit.

Can't offer any advice but just to say I'd feel the same way. Doesn't make sense that they wouldn't contact you to let you know, and I'd say 7 days is plenty of time to give them to respond - I hope it gets sorted asap. If all isn't well then at least you've found out now and not weeks before you go x

Could you message the people who have stayed at the villa and see if they have further info? Sometimes people become facebook friends with the villa owner and they may know a little bit more?

I hope you get it sorted

We hope you hear from the villa owners and that everything is ok. Can you tell us all your dates. Our villa has become available 29th August until 20th September due to guests changing their trip to May.

Thank you for all of your posts. I didn't know if I was being too anxious.

We have booked villas through the Dibb several times and have always felt happy, hopefully I am worrying about nothing.

Thank you Melvin and Lesley, our booking unfortunately starts on 14th August.

I'm not on Facebook now as my account was hacked so I decided to leave social media (apart from the Dibb ), so I am unable to check.

Thanks for the suggestion Jocat, I will PM Stu and find out when the villa advert was taken down and see if the account has been deleted.

Id be concerned tbh. I would call them as soon as possible. If no response and given that you have emailed also i would be considering taking further action to get a deposit refund and book elsewhere.

We booked a DIBB villa in 2016 and it's disappeared off the a DIBB which obviously worried me especially as when I googled it I saw that it was up for sale. However we had the most wonderful stay there. I think the owners had sold but bookings were honoured. I hope that you get this sorted please keep us updated. Maybe the owners have gone away for the festive season and don't gave Internet access.

I would have phoned them as soon as I began to be concerned - hopefully all is OK and the Owner can put your mind at ease.
