Oh my goodness - virgin quote!

Popped into one of the shops this afternoon...

Fly drive - 2 people - 16 Dec - 5 Jan (cheapest flight dates), mid size SUV (gold insurance)
Lgw - MCO

Total of £2650!

AND that includes their "10%" discount this weekend!

How does anyone afford it at those prices?

Luckily I am happy to book DIY as no-way would I be booking at those prices!

Wild. My husband works off shore and he is always telling me about the guys he works with and how much they pay for a two week holiday to Florida. It's crazy.

Those are the kind of prices I always get when I check VH. We fly from Glasgow though so I assumed that was why.

Flydrive prices from Virgin seem ridiculous when compared to flight only and separate car hire. For the same flights we have booked along with separate car hire I checked the flydrive price on Virgins website before booking and it was almost double what we were paying for flight only. Needless to say we booked flight only, that was a crazy price just to be paying a deposit instead of the full amount.

What I dont get is that she was convinced that it was a good deal!

Even when we said we would think xmas flights would be around £600 each and roughly the same for 3 weeks car hire she didnt bat an eyelid!

Yes - I am fully aware that Xmas is the most expensive time to go but theres expensive and then theres Virgin

I remember getting a quote for 2016 before VA flights were released and despite having both an NHS and Flying Club discount, neither were valid for my dates and the quote worked out that economy flights were going to be about £900 pp. The woman quoting me suggested this was a good deal.

Was this Virgin Holidays or Virgin Atlantic.
I price both and find VA comes out cheaper every time.

Virgin hols fly drive.

No scheduled flights available for those dates yet.
We're not too fussy who we fly with - so will be checking them all in a couple of weeks!

I've always found that fly drive prices before scheduled flights come out are very high. They are gouging those who want to book early!

We booked with VH for this year despite the fact we usually DIY- it was coming out pretty much the same or slightly better than DIY (after the flying club discount). So they are not always extortionate!

I’ve got a hotel only with virgin holidays. Whilst I was in the shop a lady came in and asked about flights. The virgin holidays staff member said “I can tell you without looking we will be more expensive”
