Points budget disaster

Im so annoyed. We always planned a Christmas & NY trip this year (2019/2020) at BWV and BLT (2 of our home resorts) and then an Easter trip. When I was working out how many points we had available for the Easter trip the 2020 points charts obviously weren’t released so I had to guess points needed for the last 2 nights of our Christmas/NY trip.

Unfortunately I hadn’t banked on such a shift in the 1 bedroom points requirements so it has left me 4 points short for what I need at BLT. I’m so cross as I have no idea how to resolve this, I can’t buy the one time use points as you can’t buy those at the 11 month window and I doubt I’ll be able to find another BLT owner to transfer me in just 4 points Why did they have to mess with it!

It’s really frustrating isn’t it - I have an extended family trip planned for New Year 2020/21, and I’ve promised the family a 2 bed theme park view, and we were having a theme park view studio, but we will have to settle for a standard view studio - not the end of the world, unless of course they decide to stop the Top of the world lounge access to watch the fireworks (something that wouldn’t surprise me with the way things with DVC are going lately!) ☹️

Because we are staying at BLT over NY the whole point is to have a theme park view - we have 3 very young children so have to be in the room with them. There really is no option, if I can’t find someone to transfer me 4 points I shall have to reduce the trip by a whole night just for the sake of 4 measly points!

Not sure if this helps at all, but we stayed in a standard view studio at BLT and we had a castle/fireworks view, we were on the 5th floor, would SV points come within your total owned?

Not all standard views have a castle view though, it’s very much luck of the drawer and not a risk I’m willing to take when the whole point of us staying at BLT over NY is so that we can watch the fireworks whilst the children are sleeping

I know it’s really rubbish!

What room/view are you planning for your Easter trip? Is there any compromise with room type there that would stretch your points a little?

I totally get the reason for keeping a theme park room over New Years - we had a one bed over NYE and the view was amazing! Shame we won’t get one next time now, but we will at least be able to watch them in our relatives room.

We have 6 nights at AKL and 8 nights at Hilton Head over Easter. We always need a minimum of a 1 bed as there are 5 of us and we like having separate space for the children to sleep that we can shut off so we can still talk and watch tv etc so we can’t compromise on room size unfortunately.

I think we wil have to switch to 11 nights BWV but compromise on view and not get a boardwalk view as planned and then just 3 nights at BLT instead of 4.

We always do theme park view at BLT and at that time of year it’s just not a compromise I am willing to make

Are you going this easter and then at Christmas?
Could you buy single use points for Easter? and/or change a night for that trip to release the points for Christmas, or have I totally misunderstood?

Not sure how I’d do this - if I phoned member services and explained could they sort it? As I could switch in some BCV points at Easter to get BLT points back.

Would I have to do it for a whole nights worth of points? Would they go into holding? I’m december UY so my Easter trip and Christmas trip are 2 separate UY

Yes buy one time use points, nice little earner now for DVD who always wins.

There seems no sense whatsoever they put 1 beds up to balance demand- always seem last to go.
