We are doing a cruise with Royal Caribbean in August this year on Anthem of the seas. We got flights on Aer Lingus to a Dublin then Newark Airport. We fly in 2 days before have booked to stay at the Best Western at the airport as they do a rate which includes transfers to the cruise terminal and pick up back to airport on return. We just booked normal rate first night then cruise and stay the second night. They also have a shuttle to train station where u can get the train to Manhattan. On return staying at Hilton Penn Station Newark as it is right at train station with train to NY taking 15 mins staying there another 3 nights this hotel was a good price in comparison to Manhattan hotels. Almost forgot Best Western also does a shuttle to Jersey Garden Mall which we will take the day we arrive as prob not much time to do much else.

We cruised on Anthem of the Seas last August from Cape Liberty, we used the yellow cab from JFK to manhattan, and stayed at the intercontinental times square, was around £200 a night so not cheap but nothing is in NYC... we used a private transfer service to get to the port, we joined up with other people going too, to share the cost and had a minivan. Look on cruise critic for your roll call, to see if this is an option? Ours was through Hoppa, and I paid in advance in pounds.
The cruise was fantastic here is my highs and lows link - https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1099010
