Oh, what time are you traveling and how? As PP said Liverpool are playing at home so likely to be busy from half 1 on trains/motorway.

The museums are a good start especially the life museum near the pierhead. Or about a round of golf at cheto golf adults only venue (ghettogolf/liverpool/) or on the evening how about one of our comedy clubs i suggest laughterhousecomedy/.
for food how about georges british kitchen (georgesgreatbritishkitchen) or maybe french (bistrofranc/) if you will still be in Liverpool on Sunday then give Olive a try for lunch they have a 50% jan sale if you book in advance. |

In addition to the museum at the docks area there is the Walker art gallery and the World museum in William Brown street There are usually some free exhibitions, and the cafe at the Walker is nice. I actually prefer what I call the top end of Liverpool nearer the cathedrals. Bold street has lots of eateries, from Lebanese food to individual coffee shops rather than the chains.
Nearer the Cavern area is the Casa Italia restaurant, a family run restaurant for over 40 years. Very reasonable and tasty food, and always busy.

Just wanted to come back and say thank you all for your recommendations. We had a fabulous time. We stayed at Staybridge Suites which was fabulous. Yesterday afternoon we walked along the docks and then up to Mathew Street. We spent the afternoon in the Cavern Club and could have stayed longer but we'd not eaten and so decided to be sensible. In hindsight we should have gone for a big lunch first and then we could have stayed there.
Last night we couldn't face walking far so ended up at Rev De Cuba on Albert Dock. The food was really tasty and we stayed around there for drinks afterwards. This morning we did the Beatles Museum and then did a bit of a pilgrimage to Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and the childhood homes of Paul and John. Definitely want to go back and see other parts of the city. |
