Mobile P&O - what to expect?

We’ve only cruised once before with Royal Caribbean. We absolutely loved the experience and found it less formal (even on formal evenings) than we were expecting.
So P&O sound like they are much more formal. After 6pm you have to be dressed smart casual wherever you are on board.
So, no trainers and t-shirts after this time? I know how the MDR works, but a little more surprised about the rest of the ship.
It’s not a problem, just want to be prepared. Especially as our youngest will have only just turned 14 and lives in trainers 🤔

I was on Azura about 4 years ago. Loved it. Afternoon tea was my fav.

I wouldn't say you have to dress smart after 6pm if you're going to be eating in the buffet restaurant (I did that a few times and was still in my shorts and t-shirt). In the main waiter service restaurants they do want you to be less casual though, understandably.

We were on Oceana 3 years ago, I wouldn't say it was that formal. We ate in the buffet restaurant a few nights and shorts and t shirts were every where. I would say on non formal nights in the dinning area trousers and a nice top were fine or a maxi/flowy dress would be fine - there were die hard cruisers dressed to the nines every night too.

Formal nights if which we had 2 on a 7 night cruise a lot of people made the effort.

Thank you both for your replies.
I’ve been reading that they’ve changed things in the last year or so, so wondering if anyone who’s sailed with them recently can shed some light?

So on non formal nights, you didn’t have to be dressed smart as in trousers and smart top etc with no trainers?

I’d suggest smart casual rather than completely casual for the dining room - just as if you were going to a decent restaurant. Teenagers would be ok in trainers and smart jeans. If your going the the buffet then shorts / anything completely casual would be fine
