Starting to plan
We visited WDW last year for our 'once in a lifetime' trip. End of the first week we bought into the vacation club 😁
So we are now planning our next trip. Accommodation is sorted but this is the first time booking a holiday of any sort with separate elements. We live in Yorkshire so usually use Manchester airport. We are looking to travel May 2020 for my daughter's 10th birthday. I have a few, well a lot of, questions: 1. Flights. Which airline is best? We flew virgin last time and loved it but they are really expensive. Is flying via Dublin a better option? When is the best time to book flights? 2. Best place to buy tickets? 3. We are looking at universal too, bit it's coming up an extra £1,700 for an overnight stay at a universal hotel and park tickets. Is there a way to get this cheaper? 4. What else would you recommend in Orlando. We will be doing some shopping and going to I drive this time. Anything else? Many thanks for getting through my long post and for any advice you can offer. |

Flights for Thomson and Thomas Cook are out now. Thomas Cook definitely is as I’ve just done a dummy booking for August but they aren’t currently cheap. You are best off waiting until 11 months out before you start looking for flights when other airlines release their flights. BA have had good prices flying into Miami this year if you don’t mind a drive up. Don’t know what their flights are like though. I’d set up a flight alert on kayak/sky scanner/momondo so you can compare flights.
Celebration is a nice place to visit if you want to try somewhere new. There’s a nice lakeside walk or cycle. We stayed at the Portofino for 1 night and it was worth it for front of line passes because it was the height of summer but it wasn’t cheap and the cost of park tickets for 2020 is currently making me wonder whether I should have booked a two week holiday to the Lake District instead! 😂 |

Flights are all about the compromise between ease of route and price.
I know that most people prefer direct, but then some have a long drive to get to a "direct" airport. So the longer it takes on an indirect route is offset by a much shorter drive. It's definitely worth looking at Yorkshire airports to Dublin then on to MCO as indirect tends to be cheaper. Every trip you learn more and find things to do that you didn't last time. Kennedy Space Centre is great if you have any interest in space, and good enough to entertain those that think they won't like it.
