Pixar Place Welcomes a New Resident
It looks like Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going to get a new resident. What kind of resident? I hear you ask…..well…..it seems installation of a giant audio-animatronic lamp is underway. Luxo – the playful lamp mascot that appears at the beginning of every Pixar film, is coming to town! Some new construction walls have popped up along Pixar Place, just opposite Toy Story Mania. This is the area that has long been speculated for the installation of the animatronic Luxo. There appears to be a platform, access hatch and speaker at the location - a perfect place to install an animated figure. Today was the first sighting of the actual lamp. You can just make out the shape of the lamp through the construction netting. Luxo is expected to become live in early June 2009.
