Eating your dinner with strangers...
Hello Disney cruisers!
I''m looking at booking a 3 night Bahamas cruise next november. Firstly, has anyone been in November? Is the weather ok? Secondly, I've read that you are seated with other guests at dinner. Now, I've got no problem with socialising but we actually work completely different hours at home so never get to spend meal times together. To us finally sitting down together, alone, is priceless, plus it's our honeymoon! Are you able to make requests for tables of 2, if so do they usually get honoured? Thanks! |

Can't help too much sorry... But we asked TA to put a note on booking that we were on our honeymoon.
We were put on a table with 3 other couples... 2 of which also on their honeymoon.

On our honeymoon we were sested with other honeymooners as well.
Most of the time they will honour a request to be seated alone but if the boat is full they can't as there are no tables for 2 you just get a 4 top to yourself. You'll have a better chance on 2nd seating.

You are the customer. Do not accept a table allocation if it is not what you want.

Does being seated with other diners happen to everyone?
We are a party of 5... are we likely to get others sat with us?

You'll either be at a table for 6 on your own, or at a table for 8 with a family of 3.

Since we've been cruising without the kiddos, we have always been seated with other couples. I really enjoy sitting with other people and finding out where they're from and what they had been doing that day

It doesn't work like that on DCL I'm afraid. If you don't like the table situation you're given and they have no spare ones, you'll be eating at the buffet or quick service for the whole cruise!
All requests for specific table allocations are just that, requests. DCL make it very clear that it's a request and we, on this board, also reinforce that so people know what to expect. It is standard practice on DCL to put smaller parties together as they have no 2 top tables. Guests with special needs within their party are catered for first. Sharing your table is not quite as bad for most people as you first think it may be. I'm rubbish at small talk, but even I manage to be civil to our table sharers and have formed some really good friendships with some of them. Don't rule it out completely is all I'd say. Oh, and I certainly wouldn't have the attitude of 'I'm the customer therefore I am right'. So very often the customer/guest is very wrong.
