27hr flight delay with Thomas Cook...

After an appalling delay with TC on the return leg this week, with a complete lack of info from TC, either in Orlando or UK phones, or their twitter feeds, I would like some advice on what compo is available.

I believe you can claim as part of the EU scheme, but can anyone advise how to do this? A google search just brings up hundreds of scamsters trying to cash in.

On a connected note. Can I also claim from my Travel Insurance, as I have delayed flight coverage, or will claiming on this affect my EU scheme claim?

Thanks

I don’t thin’ it will affect your insurance subject to the wording of the policy, TC are compensating you and your insurance company should be paying for additional expenses due to the delay

Also have a look at the Money Saving Expert website. There's lots of advice on your rights and there is a letter you can use to submit with your claim. I used the MSE advice in the past and made a successfull claim against an airline with no fuss.

Thomas cook are one of the easiest to submit a claim with.
As already posted, just fill the form out,on the Thomas cook website, submit & the only experience I’ve had,is that the compensation was paid, really swiftly.
Hope yours is also as easy.

Inbound flight to MCO was diverted to FLL on Weds due to weather. There was a Tech issue with the plane so they had to fly a maintanance crew over to FLL and a new flight crew to MCO the next day. (Of course none of this was shared at the time)

We were told we would take off 5.30pm on Thurs eve, eventually we got away at 10.30pm

Glad you cleared that up - on first read I thought it was the huge storm on Wednesday that had caused the delay -weather does not mean you will receive any EU compensation. Given that the plane had a technical fault and needed new air crew should mean that you will get sorted out quickly by using the page on their website.
