Virgin - January booking 2019

Well I'm glad I logged into Manage My Booking this morning as I discovered our week away has been moved forward a day, we're not on a Fri flight now it's Thursday to Thursday! I'd had no email. So I rung up Virgin holidays as I was a bit concerned about the hotel too as I booked it as a package.
Virgin Atlantic hadn't informed virgin holidays of the change!
Anyway it's now a Thursday, and the hotel has been changed too, I'm glad nothing else was booked as it would have been a pain in the bum to sort stuff again !
I'm assuming the Fri flight was empty and they've removed it !

Have they charged you the same price aswell?... I am shocked they are allowed to move your holiday by day what if you had certain leave booked off?

Yes the outstanding balance was the same ! I've had to lose an extra day off work so will lose that pay, husband will have to change his holiday date and son misses an Engineering day that he wouldn't have missed. So there has been a bit of inconvenience. I booked Friday for a reason. I asked if there were any upgrades for the inconvenience she said no sorry.
She said any airline can do this.

Maybe any airline can bt surely you can state a preference like if you wanted to go on the Saturday? (not sure thats what you would want) .
Also this is Virgin holidays you have booked through...I would check your rights if you aren't completely happy. I would not be pleased if this happened to my booking.
I think they are 'trying it on' If you wanted to cancel now you would loose a substantial deposit so why can they 'cancel' your original booking without compensating you for the hassle (I am sure a Friday would have initially cost more than a Thursday).
I would speak to someone else or go through their 'feedback department' hopefully someone who has had this happen may be able to offer advice but this just doesn't seem right.
Hope you get it sorted either your work holidays or through them

Thanks , I've agreed to accept the Thursday flight now, I was told Fri flights were now indirect but could possibly do that, no thanks. Saturday wasn't offered but I wouldn't have took it as it's my daughter's 21st and we want to be there before that day.
I'm sure I've read of this happening before that's why I didn't kick up a fuss, plus I need to be there for my daughter's birthday so I just took the Thursday. It doesn't seem right/fair though I admit.
