Booking seats on BA plane when booked through AA.

Does anyone know whether you have to pay for seat selection a BA plane if you have booked it through the AA website as a codeshare? I can't find a straight answer anywhere! Just want to work out whether it's actually cheaper with AA, or if I need to factor in seat reservation prices too?

mmm,well this may not help at all...I am doing it the other way, booked via BA but includes AA code-share flight 1 way - DIDNT have to pay for seat for the AA part but DID have to pay for seat reservations for the BA part which I wasn't expecting!

If you are on AA metal then certain seats are free, if you are on BA metal then you will have to pay regardless of who you booked with.

You can select your seats (from whats left) for free from 24 hours before departure, during check in..otherwise it's chargeable.

On AA flights they will assign seats immediately which you can change, however, lots of their seats are blocked for premium or pay to select, even at check in 24 hours before.

hi there we are booked through American airlines but our Aberdeen to London flight is ba ive just been on and weve been allocated seats on the ba flight automatically, we fly next Monday hope this helps
