The MK 4th July fireworks are amazing, very different from the HEA ones. The park will be rammed though and will probably close, certainly to off site guests, at some point so factor this in when planning what time you will be arriving.

I think they look better from outside the park as they are set off around the MK (obv not in it), not from just one focal point like HEA.

If you can get a reservation, you can watch them from one of the MK resort restaurants. We watched from Narcoossee's last year and it was fab. You can also watch them from the beach at the Polynesian which is lovely too. We got a reservation for Kona café and went out after. I don't think they are keen on people going to the beach to watch if they haven't got a dining reservation though. All resorts pipe in the music too. Next year we hope to get a reservation at the Cali Grill and watch from there.

Epcot is busy but it's a big park so can take more people without feeling rammed. The 4th July fireworks are different from the normal Illuminations ones-more spectacular, though not sure what'll happen when they end at the end of the Summer next year.
We watched the 4th of July fireworks on the 5th July in 2013!

We go there at this time every year. The July 4th fireworks are shown on the 3rd and 4th of July at Magic Kingdom - it then reverts back to Happily Ever After.

Parks are mega busy - we avoid them and go shopping instead! We then book dinner at California Grill to watch the July 4th fireworks from the balcony!

Was a bit intrigued by this so did a quick search and found this:

"In 2013, as part of Limited Time Magic, the Independence Day fireworks show was performed July 1–7. The 180-degree perimeter effect was used on the July 1–2 and 5-7 shows while the full 360-degree perimeter fireworks were shown on both July 3 and 4."

We did MK for 4th July a few years ago, it was rammed, but fantastic. When we arrived at the park they said it was closed as it was full, the lady on car park gave us a free voucher for parking at Epcot. We then got free parking at Epcot and used our ‘park hopper’ tickets to get monorail back to MK!

KC2014 - we're late to this party, having only just booked and we find that 4th July is our last full day. we are staying in Southern Dunes. Where did you find info about local displays, please? It sounds much better than dealing with the crowds in a park. TIA
