are reservations really necessary during may half term?

feeling slightly panicky i haven't booked any meals! we have half board dining plan.

i haven't booked as i have 3 children (6,4,3) and i'm not what we will want or when or where. BUT i do want meals...! lol

should i book now? (its only 2 days to go)

what time would you recommend to eat for little ones? i don't mind missing the parade some days. do i go early like 4pm? or 6.30?+

help!

I would recommend booking some if you're keen on going to specific restaurants as some are fully booked during term time but you may still be able to book when you get there. Silverspur often gets fully booked as does Chez Remy. Village restaurants tend to be easy to get in to and some don't take reservations.

we are only going to use our standard vouchers so that is: billy bobs, plaza gardens, agrabah, des stars (the other options are at other hotels).

does anyone know if these are popular places or perhaps fine just to book when we get there?

I know there are no guarantees, but those should all be fine to book on arrival. We’ve been in August, and although we’d booked, we decided to change some reservations at the last minute, and were able to get the times we wanted with only a few hours notice at standard restaurants. I would definitely book when you arrive though, as we saw queues of people without reservations waiting for tables at Restaurant Des Stars, Plaza Gardens and Agrabah.

This time around, we’re eating at Des Stars, Plaza Gardens, Agrabah, La Cantina, and Cape Cod and have booked them already. If we change our minds while we’re there, I’m sure we’ll easily be able to change our bookings around.

If you go into City Hall in the main park they will help you with reservations.
Annettes in Disney Village used to be walk up only and you can use face value of standard vouchers there. It's an American diner.

When we were there at Easter, we hadn’t booked and struggled to get booked on arrival day. I would try and book before you go, even with a couple days you may get have more chance. Hope you get the restaurants you want.

i would book - as with your children's ages I don't think they're going to find it much fun hanging around in a queue outside a restaurant waiting to get in. When do you tend to have your main meals in the day now? Just add an hour (as France is one hour ahead of us) and book your restaurants for around that time.

I would definitely make reservations. We went one year during may half term, parks weren't that busy but long queues for restaurants, our arrival day we couldn't get seated until 9:15pm! That was arriving at 1pm and booking straight away. Also some, like the Hotel Cheyenne, are by reservation only now. If you don't want to reserve before you go I would do it as soon as you arrive.

I would definitely book, we just got back yesterday and we missed a reservation and tried to rebook. They had nothing for that night or the next day. Lots of restaurants had no space for days
