We do cheap/free days out
Cut back on Xmas/birthdays
Meal plan and cut back on treats in shopping, we shop at aldi mainly now.
Cut back on all treats really I don’t get my hair/nails etc done, don’t buy new clothes unless desperate. I don’t go over the top on the kids clothes now they get what they need but that’s it.
Some people wouldn’t like to live like that but to us it’s worth it.

We have divided cost of holiday by number of months left til we go and set up standing order to go out each month to the savings account.

I have started matched betting to save for the extra bits what we want to do. Have saved £1k in just under two months on this but I'm only targeting £100 per month moving forward as I think it's much easier to earn a lot in the sign up offers. I'll be happy if I meet that target, anything extra is a bonus.

Meal planning has been a huge win for us, we save so much more and throw out so much less food. We just plan usually 5 meals a week so it's not too strict and doesn't feel restrictive.

we are just starting to save for our first full family trip in 2021. the amount needed to be saved feels impossible. i am starting a new job in a couple of weeks and plan to save every penny but i will only earn £240 a month. i figure by our holiday i will have saved about £5K. That is about half of our planned spend. yulp. still lots to do.

must start selling more stuff!

Unfortunately there isn't a defined way on how to save money, everyone does it differently I guess..

One way I've managed to save money over the last few years is when I sat down and looked at my spending. An example of this... "did I need to renew my phone?" No, changed my phone contract to sim only, saving almost £40 a month etc.

Good luck!
