Where to stay for Manchester University visit?

Heading down for open day on the 19th of June, Manchester prices are quite high, can any dibber suggest somewhere with about a 30 min drive in the morning to the Uni. Open day starts at 10am, so will have time to do a bit of driving from the hotel. Thanks xx

Premier Inn Stockport South is 65

Rainhill is 52 but the M62 can be chaos of a morning.

shirley where are you heading down from? Just thinking if its down on motorway maybe a services Premier Inn or Travelodge might work also? ie anywhere up to an hour outside Manchester on "your" side?

The village hotel at Ashton u lyne is a nice hotel and you could get into Manchester from there within 30 minutes and near to the M60 exit for travel

There are quite a few hotels around Haydock which would be half an hour-ish out of Manchester depending on the traffic. You would also have the option of driving in via the M6/M62 or via the A580 depending on how the traffic is that day.
