We're going at the end of October, so I'd say it's a safe bet to say the exchange rate will be really bad when we want to buy $$$!

It dropped from 1.39 to 1.38 today... before returning to 1.39.

I wish that I had a Chrystal ball. I have my spending money set aside for conversion to Dollars, but don't know when to jump!

If they can't get an agreement today and the US government shuts down I'm guessing the pound will increase in value.

To be honest we are at a historic low point (last year was worse) so I would say the only way is up, but not until we get off the fence on Brexit

no crystal ball i'm afraid.

But what I am doing is splitting our purchase of $USD up. So I bought about 1/3 of the $USD we want a short while ago at 1.36. I will buy another 1/3 in April/May time and then the last 1/3 just before we go in Aug.

I can guarantee my avg rate won't be the best possible rate, but also it won't be the worst possible rate! Should be somewhere in the middle. I'm happy with that.

We go in may and I decided to jump on it at 1.36 and changed our spending money.

Price I am happy with and it worked with my figures that I was looking at.

euro to $$$ is around 1.19 mark. last year around May when we changed we for 1.05. going bak in May so hoping for it to increase a bit more
