People smoking in houses

I am not judging people who smoke, because I smoked over 25 years ago, but I just went to a local house to give a quote and the house stunk of smoke, so I refused to even quote for the work as apart from the smell, I end up with a headache (they seemed surprised at my refusal to even quote due to the smoke smell).

I know people who smoke, but they smoke in the garden and not in the house, but I won't work for anyone who smokes in the house, or I won't visit/sit in peoples houses who smoke in the actual house.

Am I a diva or are others the same?

Not at all

I am surprised people smoke regardless of where but if they do then surly why in a house when you are expecting workmen ? You wouldn’t or couldn’t do it anywhere else so to me it’s totally unacceptable to expect anyone to come into a smoke environment

My parents used to when I was growing up which was horrible. But thankfully they dont anymore.

My nan's flat always stinks of smoke even though she doesn't smoke but her neighbours do. It's gross. I hate that smell!

I am with you. I hate smoking. I grew up with my mum smoking and still remember the disgusting stale smell and the burning eyes coming down stairs each morning.
I haven't been inside her house in many years now, she always comes to us instead as I cant bare it.
I would have no issue turning down a job to avoid it

I believe people have an absolute right to smoke in their own home as long as it doesnt comprimise the health and well being of anyone else.

I also believe you have the right to refuse work because of the smell and the desire not to breathe in their secondhand smoke.

MH I would not want your body temple in any way damaged!

I’d say it’s more of a health issue, I wouldn’t volunteer to inhale second hand nicotine fumes not to mention the smell on my clothes
Agree they have every right to smoke in their own house but guess they have to accept that limits their choice of workmen and visitors

Well as smoking in the workplace isn’t permitted I don’t see why that’s any different.
You have every right not to breathe in their smoke.
