Help with another destination.
We are thinking of booking an August cruise from port canaveral followed by a week at the hard rock hotel Orlando. We would like to spend about a week somewhere else before (not in Florida though). Do you have any suggestions. It will be two adults and a 15 year old girl.

Not answering your original question but would always do the cruise last, as its more relaxing so nice to finish with after bustle of parks etc. I could easily do two weeks in Florida followed by a cruise, but even then a week cruise never enough for me either!

New York would be my suggestion as well! My 15 yr old dd is dying to visit! I made the mistake a few years ago of saying me and her would go for her 16th, seems to have crept round a bit quick though!

If you mean within the state of Florida, how about a tour of the Keys? (It's on our to do list having spent a day in Key West earlier this year and loving the place! )
Or a tour from Miami going across Alligator Alley and up the Gulf Coast stopping at some beautiful coastal spots en route? (done this and can fully recommend! ) If you mean out of state I agree that New York is perfect for a week long stay, loads to do and see! I also agree with Loopyloo, I'd always choose to do the cruise at the end of a more fast paced holiday, cruises are THE way to relax and rewind before going home

Thank you for the suggestions. I will take a look at New York. We have also had Toronto suggested, anyone been there? Unfortunately the cruise will have to be in the middle. We don't want the first week to be in Florida so are looking for suggestions elsewhere.
