Avis: Excess Insurrance at the desk and credit card

Hi everyone,

when i pick up my car we have been told to provide a card to secrure for insurrance. However we dont own a credit card and dont want to. Plus dont like the idea of using a debit card due to it holding money on the account.

ive seen on the net a few ways around this:

1. Pay cash - Does anyone know if this is possible?
2. Use a currancy card to hold the funds on
3.Take the excess insurrance.

Can anyone help on the above and which is best to do?

Cheers

Join Avis preferred and link your booking to that. Go to the office in the garage instead of the main desk. You'll be far less likely to be given the hard sell and are treated a million times better. As for your specific question, I don't they'd hold that much on your card so using a debit one wouldn't be too much of an issue. A currency card may not be the best advice as you'll have it held until after you get back and then it is stuck on the card and saves you the carry on of taking it back off.
