DME or car hire

we have never used DME before and wondered views on this? Do you recommend using this and hiring a car from car centre or skipping the transfers and getting a car from the airport?

DME is included free in our package x

Not done it before either, but considering doing the same as you. The main advantages we can see are skipping the long lines at the airport rental garages (although can use skip the line/straight to garage etc), not having to worry about driving whilst tired after a long journey and, perhaps best of all, not having to worry about fitting luggage in. Using DME means we can probably drop down a size in car, which will make a saving for our three week stay. Since DME is free, it seems to all make sense.

Good point about a smaller car I hadn't thought about that 👍 could save a couple hundred £!

We will be doing this for the first time this August. By taking the DME it means we can have a nice relaxed start to the holiday - no car rental stresses and it means I can have a couple of drinks on the plane. I have booked pick up of our car from the Disney Car Centre for the afternoon of our first full day. Apparantly they do not go for the hard sell there.

Hi all,

We hired a car from MCO before booking some nights onsite at the beginning of our stay, so now we have free DME. I am thinking that it might be good for me to take the kids on the DME and leave Hubbie to sort out the hire car and bring the luggage. He will have to take the luggage as we fly out of Tampa so need to double check that we are hiring a car with enough room for all of our luggage on the way back! I am wondering a couple of things:

How long does it take to get to the Disney Hotels from the airport? Am I going to find that I am still driving around resorts long after Hubble has collected the car?
Also, could I delay hiring the car and pick up from the Disney Garage, allowing all of us to travel to AOA using DME? How does car hire from there work? We have booked through Ocean Florida, using Alamo.
Any answers gratefully received.

Thanks, Jennie
