Teppan Edo OK for vegetarians?
Tempted to eat at Teppan Edo this summer. Anyone have any experience of how they cater for vegetarians? Does it work out OK, or too much of a compromise?
Also, there will be just two of us, so I guess we'd end up sharing with others when we are seated around the cooking station. Does this work out OK, or a little odd? |

I've been a veggie for over 25 years and eaten at Teppan Edo at least 10 times over that period. It's one of our "must visit" places on each trip.
It's fine - they cook the veggies before the meat and fish goes on the grill and the noodles and rice are obviously veggie also, although that didn't used to be the case - it used to be beef rice as standard, although they'd bring me plain rice. Really not sure what you mean about sharing with others and oddness... |

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Sounds great for us.
In terms of oddness, I've never shared a table with other people in a restaurant but can imagine some situations in which it's a bit odd. Was just wondering if people think that might be the case here, or with the different approach (food cooked in front of you rather than just delivered) it works just fine. |

I guess it depends on how you are/how the others at the hibachi are.
We've had meals at Teppan Edo where each group have largely kept to themselves, and we've had others where it's been more of a "party" atmosphere and conversation has flowed right across the table. For much of the experience, everyone is watching the chef do his thing and, after that, you'll be eating. When it comes to that, it's not a great deal different to shared tables at places like Wagamama here. |
