ISO FIX Car Seats

Hi All,

Wondering if we can get some advice. We are taking our own car seat on this Holiday but was wondering about ISO fix and whether this is able to be fitted in all cars.

We have a choice of car seats one of which has iso fix (however no way to fix this by seat belt) and the other one which is seat belt only and unsure which one to take.

We are renting a minivan from Avis for information

Most hire cars are new cars and all should be fitted with Iso fix.
However, i would take the seat belt just incase. At least you'll know it'll work

We are taking a Joie Stages (seatbelt fitted) seat with us, whilst many cars will have Latch (US version of Isofix) I feel safer knowing that we have a seat that will be compatible with any car! (Plus it's lighter and less bulky than our isofix seat!)

Brilliant that has confirmed my opinion. We were thinking exactly the same about the car seat i.e a seat belt car seat can be put into any car however isofix can't.

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah because does the iso fix car seats not also need the base to be taken too, ?
How do you actually take the car seat on the plane, do they take it off you at check in or can you carry baby to the plane gate & hand over (baby has no seat as 4 months),
All complicated, this will be next april & we will be driving to airport, then a private hire changing airport LHR>LGW then we will prob have a hire car in Orlando.

Yes, I wouldn't take a isofix car seat, base and seat are seperate, well mine is and very heavy.

Car seat is checked in with luggage, you can take a pushchair to the gate where its taken off you and put in the hold, then returned at baggage claim.

I bought bags from Amazon designed to protect the car seat and pushchair, they are bright orange as well so cant miss them.
