Get to the hotel really early on your first day, leave case in the car, get your FOL passes and into the parks, full day in the parks

Up early the next day do the same with your case and another full day in the parks

1 night would mean you get 2 days worth of Express passes, check in day and check out day. On your check in day you can get to your hotel early (like 7am early), leave your bags there, check in and head straight to the parks. Similarly when you check out you can leave your bags at the hotel and spend the whole day at the parks with your express passes. That way you get the most out of it!

Brilliant thanks! Where can I find a list of which attractions participate in the front of line passes? And any recommendations for which park to do first?

List of participating attractions is here, though you don’t get the express pass at Volcano Bay universalorlando/web...express-passes

You also get early park admission, the dates will be updated closer to the time: universalorlando/web...park-admission

If you want to do the Hogwarts express the ‘right’ way first, start in Universal Studios and then get on the hogwarts express to IOA, but other than that it doesn’t really matter. A lot of the water rides (where you will get absolutely soaked) are in IOA so it might be easier to do these on the first day so you have your room close by to get to.

Thanks so much! Any other top tips? What about meals and drinks, are there any deals to be done or just pay as you go along? Can you take your own food into the park? On the first day we’ll be coming from the villa so could bring sandwiches...

There is a universal dining plan which you can pay for per day but unless you always buy the most expensive thing on the menu it’s cheaper to just pay as you go. I know food cooler boxes aren’t allowed but I think a few sandwiches in a backpack should be ok.

On the subject of food, they do have a refillable mug you can get called freestyle, it’s about $15 for the first day and $8 for each additional day for unlimited refills in the parks, if you drink a lot of soda this might be worth looking at.

A few of the big big rides at the parks have lockers that you have to put your stuff in. The lockers are quite small so it’s better to try and bring as little as possible or leave these with a family member who isn’t riding.

Orlando Informer is a great website with lots of information about universal which would be worth a read.

2 days Express Pass is a great way to do both parks in the 2 days.

As others have said, arrive at your hotel before park opening, check in and dump your overnight luggage. Get your express passes from the kiosks and get in the park at opening. Ride the big rides without the Express Pass queues first, while the park is quiet. Then you can use your passes to ride the others as the parks get busy.

If you want/need to, head back to the hotel to chill/cool off/eat, as you can go back later, and do more.

We generally manage to do everything in the 2 days as much as we want.
