We go at the end of August but opened ours 2weeks ago as we don’t have any further days off between now and going away to take it to the bank. We had £654 in £2 coins £100 in notes and £100 in £1 coins in our tin. We also have a savings pot for smaller change and had £185 in there so it was a nice little wedge 😁 we have started again for our next holiday in February to Fuerteventura 😁

Love a tin opening 😃

Jane

Hi what is this app? Can't find anything called Plum. Is that where it tops you your £1.99 to £2.00 for example and saves you the penny?

I would leave it. However we are not the type of people who put money in there that HAS to go towards our spending.

Our spending money is saved in an account and the money that goes in the jar is extra. We had £500 last time .

Hoping for £1500 in it for the wedding! But as I said it’s extra, and really that’s me starting a honeymoon fund (or worst case scenario emergency wedding fund!).

So I always leave it as long as possible. I have one you have to smash though as I have a habit of counting weekly otherwise 😂

I would wait till a month before, this gives you time to change up for currency if you need to, or save it for your credit card bill when you get back
Let’s us know how you get on

Our savings pot goes towards such things as return taxi to airport, airport hotel and airport spends so we try to leave it till nearer the time.

Just don't do what my husband did- He smashed ours open with the kids when I was at work. Thought it was a job that he would save me doing. I nearly divorced him!

Does anyone experience trouble changing all the coins?
Our bank, nationwide, said they could only change £100 worth of £2 coins in one go.
So I gave up on collecting them lol
OP I would have to open it so I knew exactly how much I had lol

I opened ours earlier this year as the rate went up so opened it and took the cash which was £770 and got our dollars that day glad now as I got $1.31 as it started to drop about a week later.
