We had a lovely day at caladesi island north of Clearwater. Have to get a boat there but that was great too as saw dolphins.

Honeymoon Island is just north of Clearwater. Lovely beach and we saw Gopher Tortoises there. I agree about getting ferry from there to Caladesi - my favourite place other than Sanibel. Great for shells!

Fort De Soto is also amazing with lots to see as well as the beach.

Thanks - im looking for a beach where its free to park and you can park really close to the beach.. plus not wanting any tourist hot spots... just want a raw bit of nice beach coastline. any ideas ?

Well Manatee Beach on AMI fulfils a few of your requirements. Free to park and almost on the beach. Toilets a shop and a café. Also a stop for the free AMI trolley.

This was it in Nov 14 although it was a tad busier last April.
