Child name change by deed poll?

Anyone changed a child's name via deed poll is It easy as looks complicated and whats the correct website?

I did and it was pretty easy, once I managed to get ex husband (father) to sign the deed. The hardest part was notifying everyone afterwards.
I did ours through www,deedpoll.org.uk, all on line and they kept me informed via email all the way through.

If his dad is paying child support and/or has visitation rights I think you still need permission

Also they will ask the child if they actually want to change their name - so they will need to be 100% on board with the change to - although I suspect they are if you are thinking of doing it, I can't imagine anyone forcing a child to change their name against their wishes

Our son did for his daughter she wanted her mums surname removed from her double barrelled name hassle from her mum but Tashasa wishes were taken into account

Nope, this is incorrect.
You only need dad's permission if he has parental responsibility.

And again no they won't as this is not a court matter, the deed poll company do not ask the child.

You don't actually need to do it by deed poll, you can change a name by statutory declaration, you can do this through a solicitor or just find the wording online, print it yourself for free and sign it in front of a witness. This is enough to change passports etc. I did this for DD many years ago.

I can't remember if dad's permission is needed if there's parental responsibility, he's on the birth certificate or if you were married but it's one of the 3, I did need it and just sent copies of his letter off with the declaration.

It's actually far simpler than you'd think.
