Mobile Virgin holidays to New York

Could anyone shed any light on why the deposit on a virgin holiday to New York is £1500 not the usual deposit?
I was hoping to book as a Christmas gift for DH however not sure I can hide such a large deposit until Christmas 😂😂😂

I’ve tried BA and price is similar however flights are indirect and for a little bit more from virgin I can get premium return x
I’ve been with BA before and was happy enough I’m just curious as to why virgin want more than half of the total cost up front🙃

How many people are going? I found VH prices were outrageous given how cheap flights to NYC are.

Is it this Xmas? I think within 12 weeks is different from the usual deposit. Although we booked Orlando once at 11 weeks and had to pay in full. 🤔

I have been looking at feb 2021 with virgin holidays and it’s £350 deposit for 2 adults so that is weird they are asking for so much.
