Advice for Brother for his last minute trip to DLP

My brother has done it again, booked a trip to DLP at the last minute for another of the probably busiest times of the year ! The last was Christmas 2018. LOL

He is chalk to my cheese and flys by the seat of his pants.

He has booked a trip a few days ago to DLP and they start their stay right on the Easter weekend, arriving 18th April.

He has booked for himself and wife and 5 kids staying at Vienna House Magic Circus.

He then asked to me find out as much info as possible for him on what might be going on in the parks.

Firstly I have looked and seen that their hotel has a pool, does this hotel enforce the strict speedo type swimming trunks for men?

Are there any special events happening over the easter Weekend?

Is there a different parade for easter?

any advice I can pass on to them would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

It is currently Marvel Super Hero season in WDS park with extra shows and meet and greets. You can download the park programme from the DLP website to see the scheduled shows and parades etc.

Mickey and the Magician show in the Studios Park is fantastic.

Loads of info in the Dibb Guidebook and also on DLP Guide website.

I don't know if the Princess and Pirate season is still on then but if so there are special parades and characters. Lots of great YouTube videos around, it looks fun.

Mickey & The Magician show in Studios is superb but get there early, it fills up fast. If he has a Mastercard tell him to go to Guest Services first thing in the morning as they offer some preferred seating for Mastercard holders (but the show is free).

Fastpass is the old paper method like WDW used to have. The essential one in Disneyland Park is Big Thunder so go there first.

Don't waste time in long, slow queues for expensive CS food which is neither fast nor hot. Instead book a sit down meal or a buffet and take your time. Yes, they are more expensive but you get a lot more bang for your buck. If he is really on a budget then Lucky Nugget is a good CS choice, as you get to sit in and have your food brought to you, and you can watch a puppet show and live entertainment in a lovely Western saloon.

What else? Phantom Manor still hasn't reopened and no definite date when it will. Chaparral Theatre is still being rebuilt in time for the Lion King show when the new season starts.

Character meets in Studios (and only in Studios) can be booked through an app called Lineberty which he will need to download. I'm not sure whether they will let you in the queue if you haven't pre-booked. It works like one of those 'take a number' counters in the Post Office, you have to keep watching the app for your number to come up. I haven't used it myself but others on here have.

In Disneyland Park you can meet characters by queueing normally, but be aware they take a long time with each guest at DLP. If there are more than 5 families in front of you, don't bother unless you have over an hour to spare.

Don't bother with Photopass unless you are going to meet a lot of characters and do a lot of the rides which have it. There are no roaming photographers, and not all character meets have it.

If wait times are crazy, take time to notice all the little details DLP does so well. Go and see the dragon under the castle and the Sleeping Beauty area upstairs with snoring knights, sparkling tapestries and a magic window. Spot the Wicked Queen in the window of the Snow White ride. Wander Alice's maze. Get lost in the caves at Adventure Isle, or find the Kaa and Zazu statues in Adventureland. In Studios, hang out in Place de Remy which is beautiful, or listen to live music sometimes in Studio One.
