I think it's done like this so people can forget to go collect it...those that do are gonna spend it at Disney anyway, and it it automatically went on band (which it should!) no one would not spend it.

NB - I tried to credit to my room/account last year but go told I couldn't as would put account in credit, had to wait until I'd spend over $200 first.
