Transport for villa owners

People who own a villa, what do u do for transport, looking at buying a villa in next few years, if we buy a car n keep it in the garage how does insurance work, do u have to insure for a year or do u just add it when u going to use it, not sure what the options are

We looked at buying and storing a car out at the villa we decided against it even though we use the villa as long as all We'd per year
For tax implications and our boys use it now too with there family's
Insurance was just way too expensive as was storage
Yes it's doable but we'd not want to leave the car in the garage when guests are in
I know ChriS on here had there car for the long over winter trips they do but her. Ircumstances are a bit different

Car insurance is very expensive here. I believe there aren't many companies that will even cover non residents.

Donna. Your comment (and Gryffs) ref Insurance being expensive. Is that Country wide or unique to the Florida State?

Just wondering.

It varies by area but I believe Florida is one of the worst. Our no claims record wasn't transferable which doesn't help!

Thanks Donna. Makes sense ref areas being different. My Son moved 2 miles from Slough to Windsor and his insurance nearly halved!

Better class of neighbour in Windsor

Separately, my cousin lives just outside Boston Mass, and reckons his car insurance is more or less on par with mine here in the UK ( we both drive the same car!)

Mass is much cheaper than Florida. There are a lot of uninsured drivers here which must push the cost up for those of us with it.
