We fly into Miami and do the drive up the next day. There's no way we could do the drive the same night as we land, plus it extends our holiday a little 😉
Last time (2016) we drove up to Orlando, leaving at about 8am and stopped at Vero beach for some lunch and a chill, we got to disbeys Caribbean Beach resort at 3pm in time to check in, took our bags to the room & freshened up then went to Disney Springs for dinner followed by a few hours in the pool before an early start at MK the next day. I know by 10pm we were shattered. We were first timers so it worked well for us. This year we're planning the same but driving up to Deerfield Beach and staying there for the night, then heading up to Orlando the next morning. We're going to hopefully stop at Vero beach again for brunch & then drive to Hard Rock Hotel. Dump our bags and nip into one of the universal parks for a few hours before dinner on City walk & an early ish night. Plus, if you use a park ticket that day you prob won't enjoy it as much due to tiredness, and it is a day less towards the end of the holiday that you can use as your 14 day tickets are activated when you first enter the park!

If you are not sure about a park why not spend some time at your villa, most kids love spending a lot of time in them at first and it gets it out of their system if they can do it all in the first day. Are you on a villa community? if so check out the facilities there, some have lots of things you can do onsite or go shopping. It depends how long you are there for and what ticket you have as to whether or not you want to spend a 'day' of your ticket if you will only get a few hours. If you are close to disney you can always go to DS for some shopping and get into the swing gradually before maxing out at a park the next day.
