Major gaff booking Mustang

We’re off to the Florida Keys in October with our 2 children (19 & 16 so adults really). My husband has always gone on about wanting a convertible in Florida.

I had avios points and was able to use them and get the car for a week for £185 so I thought why not. Booked this morning and told my hubby. He was delighted til he started looking at reviews and realised it wouldn’t be big enough. I looked back at the avios page and realised it doesn’t tell you number of cases or seats on it (although booking direct with BA does).

The booking is non changeable and if I cancel I have to pay £35. I realise I should have done my research before booking but was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Do I plead my case with Executive Club because there was no description, turn up at the airport and see what the options are for a different car (or would I be charged a ridiculous fee even if I downgraded) or do I suck it up and pay the cancellation fee. I’m assuming if I cancel I’d get the avios points back?

I have no experience with Avios points sorry. But it will be hopeless as a means of transport and if it was me I would forfeit the £35.

You need a full size saloon or a Standard SUV. Better still a full size SUV

You have nothing to lose by ringing BA and asking!

i would not use the word cancel, i would ring them and ask for a quote to upgrade your current booking.

How many cases are you taking ? 1x case in the boot and one in the middle of the rear seats would be very tight but ok for a short period, however the rear legroom is mm's. -

We have stopped hiring a mustang due to lack of space, there is only the 2 of us but 2 large cases plus golf clubs plus hand luggage and we got fed up of having our brains fried everytime we stopped at traffic lights or getting soaked in a down pour with nowhere to safely stop to put the hood up.

Well BA were great and waived the cancellation fee since I said there was no description of the car on the executive club booking page. They agreed it wasn’t clear 😮 👍🏻
