Fees for self park when staying onsite

We are staying in ASM next year. We will use the magical express from the airport.
I've seen Disney are now charging for self park at onsite hotels. We only want to hire a car for 3 / 4 days to go to Busch / Universal etc. We will have a disabled placard as my dad used a wheelchair and can only walk a few steps.
I've just seen on the Disney website "overnight self-park will be complimentary for guests with disabilities"
How does this work please? Do we tell them on security that we have a disabled passenger? Would we still be charged?

Yeah, I'll tell the gate when you drive in for the first time and the front desk when you go to check in/collect bands. Still check you bill, it should be free but mistakes are made.

Thank you! We will be using the Disney transport most days but like to have a car for further afield. Bonus, I thought it would be extra
