Laptops in Hold Luggage?

I had mine rummaged through on a business trip to NY and they didn’t include a note in the case or replace the TSA lock back on the case, only realised when I got to the hotel and went to unpack by which time it was too late.

Clothes were in a state and shirts needed ironing etc.

Had there been valuables inside I would imagine they would have gone walkies.

Never. MCO is infamous for theft. DH had a watch stolen going through the scanner but we didnt realised until we had boarded.

for what its worth I left my Sat Nav in my hold luggage once...
never worked properly again... I assume due to pressure etc down there...

If a battery catches fire in the cabin the crew can attempt to put it out whereas in the hold you would need to do an emergency landing immediately which over water isn't possible.

An aircraft can survive a battery fire in the cabin but one in the hold, chances are it won't...
