I'd give anything to be a pilot, it's always been a dream of mine but can't due to poor vision.

On top of the £100,000-£150,000/yr, their weekly hours are fantastic.. plus they'll be getting a 11.5% pay rise over the next 3 years.. yet they want to go on strike.

What a time to be alive.

Just checked my insurance and it's the same, looks like I am covered as long as I didn't start the insurance OR book the trip once strike notification had been put in the public domain - which we didn't

I know what you mean! This is what infuriates me, they are not exactly hard done by are they! It's not like any of our emergency services professionals that are over worked, abused & assaulted and severely under paid or our teachers that are expected to teach the children the world with little to no resources and again poor pay - yet they decide IF they strike then they will do it in the summer holidays when your average joe will be hit most financially and emotionally! Selfish.

We fly Newcastle to Heathrow to Miami on the 12th August returning on the 28th August. I hope this is sorted by the time we go and if this is about pay they need a reality check and look at the equivalent public sector who are cut to the bone with staff cuts and minimal pay rises for the last 10 years

We may have a problem , we have insurance that is linked to our bank account so we will be ok but we are taking my sons girlfriend and I bet they haven’t sorted insurance yet . I will ask her later today - fingers crossed they are organised.

I’m due to fly back from Vegas with them on 13th. Does that mean we’ll be stranded out there?

They result of the vote has not yet been announced, staff are still being balloted according to reports.
As for being stranded if they do strike BA should try to re book as many passengers as possible on other carriers, this will mean possibly flying home via somewhere. They will also try to run as many flights as possible by using staff not with the union and via leasing aircraft and crew in.
