Having previously worked in hotels and having had to help housekeeping out when they have been short staffed or the linen delivery been late, I have been more than happy to leave $3 a day as there are 3 of us and my kids are so messy. Only thing I want is a clean room and to have a break from housework so worth it. Also in FQ always different maids around block 6 daily. Currently in RPR and tipping daily here.

I’m sure Disney stopped their housekeepers receiving tips. We usually leave a few dollars a day. The problem with giving your tip in one go at the end is it may not get to the right person who cleaned your room all week.
I’d rather give the housekeeper good tips than the waiters waitresses who get loads more for less work imo

I am about to be controversial and go against the grain here.

I never tip housekeeping anywhere in the world. I do not believe I have ever received below standard service. I think you guys are kind but I don't think its necessary.

Please dont believe if you don't tip you are wrong. Everyone should do as they please.

So part of my question is has anyone tried to tip housekeeping without cash? Is that at all possible, as in restaurants you just tag it onto the bill. Not sure that possible at reception in a hotel (None Disney). I'm trying to go cash free not just on holiday but also at home.

I think you are spot on, because it really is discretionary.

I sometimes get offered a tip, and if I am happy with what I've charged the customer then I politely refuse to accept the tip, but if I have been decent and gone slightly over my time and not charged them, then I may take the tip.

Note: I always inform the HMRC of any cash tips I receive so I can pay them their cut

I don't see any way to actually tip apart from cash sorry.

I very much doubt the front desk would process it for you and even if they did I wouldn't trust them to pass it on.

We did the same at the Portofino Bay. I had to laugh though when we'd left a cadburys flake, the maid obviously ate it after cleaning as she left chocolate crumbs on the coffee table

Personally I wouldn't tip Housekeeping.

However Mrs Morrow says I have to, also she leaves them little bars of Cadburys chocolate.

They still do a poor job though.

I don’t think you can. Why not just bring some small chocolates instead?

Why give chocolate to people who are wheeling a cart around it the hot Orlando sun? I’ve never understood that.
