We’re here - good travel day and all well with Avis!

Travelled yesterday Leeds to Heathrow to Miami and everything went quite smoothly.

Leeds to Heathrow flight on time. We were due to be early but LHR asked us to hold of setting off for a bit due to bad weather down there. Ended up landing at the time we expected and transferred to T3 really quickly. Going through security was practically a breeze at Heathrow and we only had enough time to grab kids a sandwich and visit to WH Smith before our gate was called - furthest away typically!

The Miami flight wasn’t quite full and they started boarding a bit late then there was a small delay shutting one of the hold doors so we ended up taking off about 40 minutes late.

Flight was great, BA crew very generous with the wine and had a lovely chicken and chorizo casserole for dinner, a mini magnum an hour after and an hour before we landed we had a chicken Caesar sandwich which was delicious.

We landed about 20 minutes late in the end and got off the plane quite quickly. Was a good walk to immigration but thanks to our excellent people dodging we got to the machines quickly and we straight in. After a small issue printing one of the tickets, which staff helped us with straight away, we went to the hall where we got seen straight away by an immigration official who asked a few questions and we had a laugh with about the length of American school holidays!

Then onto the baggage hall where our cases were already going round the belt so we got the, immediately. Now I am thinking it’s going to be the car that’s the problem. Checked Avis app and they had allocated us a Ford Fusion.

After another long walk and the Miami mover we went straight to garage and found the car in our bay - a nice Ford Fusion hybrid. It’s got sat nav installed so very useful! Got to kiosk and told the, we were preferred customers, showed drivers licence and got print out with 0 charges on.

We were going to use sunpass but didn’t pass any tolls on way here and not sure we will so probably will close it again and pay cash for tolls.

Took 15 minutes to find hotel and parking then a bit longer to park car and find room and settle down etc then we slept and awake at 7am!

All in all a very smooth day and hoping that sets the scene for the rest of our holiday!

OP. Sounds a good travel day. Nice to hear all went well with Avis after all the horror stories lately.

If you want you can download the Avis app which shows full details of your rental and you can double check nothing is pending.

You go down to the lower level in T3 and get the train, its free, just get a ticket from the machine near the barriers. We did T3 to T4 to our hotel thenight before and then T4 to T3 to get our flight. Very easy but had done it the year before so knew what we were doing...
